

Mattie Lee Allen, affectionately known as, “Aunt Mattie”, was an amazing woman. She was born on January 22, 1943, in Cloutierville, Louisiana, to Jessie and Maria Miles. The family moved to Westlake, Louisiana where she united with St. Matthews Baptist Church under the leadership of Ezekiel Jubert.
She graduated from Mossville Highschool in 1962. After graduation she moved to Houston, Texas and united with New Loyalty Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bennie M. Reynolds. Upon his passing she continued her faithful service under the leadership of Rev. Charles E. Butler, II. Her service included President of Mission-II, Senior Choir member, E.W. Whitfield Circle, Deaconess and Ministers’ Wives and more.
Mattie was united in matrimony to David Allen on November 24, 1965, until his passing on September 29, 2004. To this union were born three sons, Kenneth Allen, Christopher James Allen and Derronce David Allen; three daughters, Dashunda Allen, Miquisha Ruffins and Sharon Hudson.
She retired from the city of Houston after 30 years of service.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Maria Miles; husband, David Allen; siblings, Rebecca Moton, Edna Bryant, Curly B. Washington, Ruby Leassear, Charlie Miles, Edward Miles, Stafford Miles; Son, Derronce David Allen, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory; one sister, Emmer (Ronnie); four brothers, Jessie (Kathleen), Leon (Paula), Larry (Linda) and Jack (Brenda) Miles; two sisters-in-law, Alice and Joanne; two sons, Kenneth Allen (Arnetta) and Christopher James Allen; three daughters, Dashunda Allen, Miquisha Robinson (Chris) and Sharon Hudson (Earnest); fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at New Loyalty Baptist Church, located at 6100 Hirsch Rd., Houston, TX 77026, on January 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Committal will take place at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley, Houston, TX 77088, from 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm.
