

Mrs. Meiqi Chen, aged 84 per the Chinese calendar, of Austin, Texas, passed away on February 3, 2021. She was born in Shanghai, China on August 1, 1937 to Chen Wen Zhang (father) and Chen Rui Ying (mother) who passed away at age 101 in 2019. She was married to Dr. Jiping Zhou for 50 years. Mrs. Meiqi Chen received a bachelor degree in education in China. She had a career as an lecturer/assistant professor and taught Chemistry at East China Institute of Textile Technology/China Textile University in Shanghai, now called Donghua University. She had a passion for cooking, gardening and traveling. Mrs. Meiqi Chen travelled extensively with her husband to Australia, Brazil, The Caribbean, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. She is survived by her sisters Meili Chen of Shanghai and Meidong Chen of Suzhou, brothers Hailun Chen of Suzhou and Juyuan Chen of Shanghai, cousin Jaxiang Chou of Hong Kong, son Andrew Chow, daughter-in-law Terry Lin, grandson Oliver Chow, granddaughter Josephine Chow of Houston, and niece Yida Lee, her husband Andrew Lee, and her daughters Sabrina Lee and Samantha Lee of Singapore. She also has other extensive surviving relatives in China. The family wants to acknowledge the excellent care and compassion that she received from Encompass Health Rehabilitation, Gardens of Bellaire, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Seasons Hospice and home caregivers.
