Melinda Sue James

Melinda Sue James, 59, passed away on Wed, April 27, 2016 after a long battle with breast cancer. Mendi was born on December 18, 1956 in Houston, TX and is survived by her son, Brett Harwell, mother, Mamie James, siblings Joanie LaRue, Lee James, Elaine Comets and Richard James, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mendi attended Spring Woods High School and was a 1975 graduate of Northbrook High School. She was a realtor for Gary Greene Prudential prior to her diagnosis in early 2009. Mendi worked for Sacco’s in Spring Branch during her high school years and beyond. She also worked for Stone & Webster, Mary Kay Cosmetics and was an online DJ during her later years, which she enjoyed immensely.

Mendi enjoyed life, never passing up any opportunity to do something that she loved and that would bring joy to others. Her friends and family will miss her and never forget the impact she made on their lives.

Family and friends viewing services will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 1st at Brookside Funeral Home located at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, (281-449-6511). Funeral service will be at 10:00 on Monday, May 2nd also at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will be at Saints Rest Cemetery in Nacogdoches, TX on Monday, May 2nd at 3:00 pm.
