Melvin David Ladin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully departed this world at home on August 21, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on June 11, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Melvin was the cherished son of Martin and Helen Ladin. His life was characterized by a profound love for his family, a steadfast faith, and a joyful spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Melvin shared a blessed and enduring marriage with his devoted wife Ethel, with whom he celebrated 67 wonderful years of companionship and love. Their journey together began on July 28, and their bond remained a testament to true partnership and commitment. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling values of love, faith, and integrity.
A proud alumnus of West Philadelphia High School, Melvin furthered his education at Temple University, laying a strong foundation for a successful career. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis, stationed at Fort Bragg, where he exemplified dedication and courage.
Melvin's professional life was marked by his work in the insurance and oil and gas industries, where he excelled in inside sales. His strong work ethic and dedication were evident as he continued working until the remarkable age of 87. Colleagues and clients alike admired his commitment and ability to bring humor and light into every interaction.
Known for his quick wit and infectious smile, Melvin had a unique ability to brighten any room. He was a master of humor, often seen chuckling at his own jokes, which never failed to uplift the spirits of those around him. His joy was a reflection of his deep Christian faith, which he loved to share with others, providing comfort and inspiration to many.
Melvin's legacy lives on through his loving family, who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife Ethel, his children Debbie Schiesler and her husband Dan, and his grandchildren: Josh Schiesler and his wife Bridgett, Erica Jine and her husband Trey, Kevin Nealan and his wife Elizabeth, and Jasun Harmon and his wife Kate. His great-grandchildren, Samuel, Avery, Alba, Dante, Rheya, Callie, and Kyndall, will grow up with fond stories of their remarkable great-grandfather.
Melvin was predeceased by his beloved daughter Nancy Nealan and his sister Sandra Glass, whom he has now joined in eternal peace.
In memory of Melvin David Ladin, the family kindly requests that a tree be planted in Israel in his honor. Trees can be planted by donating to the Jewish National Fund-USA.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. Visitation- 1:00 pm. Funeral Service - 2:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, US, on August 30, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
