Merlin Pauler was born in Emporia, Kansas on December 26th, 1931 and peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on January 21st, 2022. Merlin, and his twin brother Mervin, came into this world through a home birth with Merlin coming in at just a little over 2 lbs. He always spoke about this feat of survival, and how it shaped him into the strong person he was. He worked hard beginning in his early teenage years and continued to work hard throughout his career in route sales.
Those who knew Merlin, knew he had a servant heart and there was never a problem he couldn’t solve. He was always the handyman around the house and worked hard serving others well into his upper 80s. Around the neighborhood, at church, and even at the local stores, everyone knew Mr. Merle! He always had a smile on his face, and exchanged kind words with everyone he met. Merlin loved spending his time outside; rather it was doing yard work, fishing, or catching up with the neighbors in fresh air. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, he was catching the current sports games on TV. Everyday, Merle would start his morning with hot coffee and a read of the daily newspaper. Merle had a sense of humor that kept his whole family laughing and smiling constantly. In his later years, his family loved hearing him recall stories and adventures he experienced throughout his lifetime.
Merlin is preceded in death by his parents Anton and Esther Pauler. Siblings Don Pauler, Mervin Pauler, Armeda Tedlock, and Rubena Bradley. Sons Martin Pauler, Sam Pauler, and his grandson Toby Pauler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vera Pauler. Siblings Charles Pauler and Marlene Webster. Children Joe Pauler and wife Barbara Pauler, Margaret Rodriguez, and daughter-in-law Trudy Pauler. Grandchildren Sarah Pauler, Michael Pauler and wife Keesha Pauler, David Pauler, Diandra Russell and husband Justin Russell, Nicholas Pauler, JD Pauler, and Marisa Grayden and husband William Grayden. Merlin is also survived by his many wonderful great grandchildren.
Merlin Pauler will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but most of all his wife.
