Michael Lee Briggs

September 30, 2019 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at MD Anderson Hospital.

He was born in Tucson, Arizona to Ron and Bonnie Briggs on February 28, 1961.

Michael studied Communications at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and at

the University of Houston. He enjoyed an extensive career in media and radio that

spanned three decades.

Michael had a personality that many described as bigger than life. He was known for his

quick wit, infectious smile, and a kind and compassionate spirit.

Michael was a lover of music and excelled as a drummer, having played professionally

for a few years. He also had a passion for food, cooking, BBQ, gardening and hunting.

Known for his epicurean expertise, Michael was involved with Houston Restaurant

Week benefiting the Houston Food Bank, the Houston Rodeo and BBQ committee and

many other service venues.

In 2013, Michael established BRIGGS TRUE featuring a unique brand of Texas Sauces

and Seasonings. His company, Briggs True won over 35 awards for best sauces and

seasonings.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Hirons Briggs. He is survived by

his wife, Linda Dama Briggs, stepchildren, Robert and Aglin Dama of Houston, Texas;

father, Ron Briggs and stepmother, Lynne of Tucson, Arizona; his brother, Marty Briggs

and sister-in-law, Nicole of Houston,Texas; Uncle and Aunt, Mike and Kay Tibbles of

Norfolk, Nebraska; several cousins and his beloved pets, Chili and Penny.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1:00 to

3:00 pm at Hope City. The location is Cornerstone Academy, 9016 Westview Drive,

Houston, Texas 77055.

Michael will be dearly missed by his family and a host of friends, associates and

members of his spiritual community, Hope City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests

donations to be made to the SPCA https://www.houstonspca.org/ , Houston Food Bank https://www.houstonfoodbank.org/ or the charity of your choice on

his behalf.
