Michael Bucciero passed away on Friday, June 18 at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas where he lived for the past twenty years. Michael was born January 3, 1944 to Crescence and Grace Bucciero in Detroit, Michigan.
Michael attended the University of Detroit Jesuit High School. He later obtained a degree in biology at Wayne State University in Detroit and served in the army from 1968 to 1971. After the birth of his first daughter, he moved to Houston, Texas where he obtained a job at Ben Taub Hospital. In his youth he loved and played music all day long, built stereo systems, loved photography, replaced engines in vehicles, and voraciously read books. Unfortunately, multiple sclerosis curtailed some of his most loved activities. Despite his continual battle with MS for forty years, he lived his life to the fullest of his ability. Michael loved to tell everyone jokes and remained positive in the face of any health challenge.
Here are some favorite dad jokes. Dad was on the elevator, and he saw an elevator repairman. He asked him how business was, and the repairman said, "It has its ups and downs." Dad often asked, "What is worse than finding a worm in your apple? Finding half a worm."
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his daughter Sarah Bucciero-Cope and husband Ed; daughter Jennifer Bucciero Boyles and husband Jim; grandchildren George Cope, Grace Cope, and Patricia Boyles; his sister Mary Eliades, his brother Bill Bucciero, and his brother George Bucciero and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Funeral Directors 8303 Katy Freeway Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A rosary will be said for Michael at 7:00 pm. His funeral will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church 11507 Huffmeister Rd. at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 24, 2021 followed by a burial at the Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
