Mike was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 6, 1986, Mike spent his early childhood in North Carolina before his family settled in Houston — the city that would become his true home. It was here that he grew up, built a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He attended Sam Houston High School then later found his passion in construction as a heavy machinery operator.
Mike was the heart of every room he walked into. He loved being the life of the party — dancing, eating, cracking jokes, and lighting up every gathering with his unforgettable laugh. He had a deep love for movies, often quoting his favorite lines with perfect timing, and never missed a chance to put a smile on someone’s face.
Family meant everything to Mike. He was a devoted father whose love for his children was unmatched. He was always present — loud, joyful, supportive, and full of pride. Whether he was grilling in the backyard, relaxing in the pool, working hard or watching the Houston Astros, Mike made even the simplest moments feel special. His sweet smile was all you needed to make your day.
Mike was a hard worker at home and at work. He was a heavy machinery operator for more than 10 years. He was passionate about his role at Winco Masonry where he worked for 4 years. He took pride in his role as a Heavy machinery operator. Always making sure he was practicing safety first and took pride in all his multiple certifications in his profession.
He had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him — and remembered always for his humor, warmth, and big heart.
Mike will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his children Gizelle, Jeremiah, and Makayla Lara who meant the world to him. His wife of 19 years Ruth Lara-Davila, his sister Amanda Lopez, his brothers Alex Lara and Francisco Lara Jr. His father Francisco Lara and mother Veronica Saldana. And how to forget the numerous extended family and friends who will never forget his laughter, kindness, and heart.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on August 7th from 2 pm to 10 pm with a special white dove release at 5 pm. Following his blessing on August 8th from 9 am to 11 am to receive his final farewell at Del Angel Funeral home. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
We are profoundly grateful for everyone who has contributed to helping the family through this difficult time. Whether it was a word of advice, a shoulder to lean on to the immense support in every which way. We also want to extend a special thanks to the Lara and Davila families — To the Winco Masonry Company and close friends. Thank you! May God bless you all.
With love Ruth and kids.
