Mildred, 84, was called to her heavenly home quickly and peacefully on Saturday Nov. 12, 2011. Though she survived many health challenges this year she had bounced back remarkably well but she suffered a major Heart attack that took her swiftly and without suffering.
She was devoted to her Family and her church family at North Central Baptist Church in Houston. She was a founding member of that church. She sang in the choir and served as church secretary for a number of years. She also was secretary at North Western Life Insurance Co and worked with the Harris County Election Dept.
She was born in Rusk, Texas, married and moved to North Caroline with her husband but Moved to Houston in 1950 and moved to live with her daughter in Austin in 2005.
She is preceded in death by her parents Addie and Wesley Middleton and her husband Glenn Self and her brothers Homer and sister in law Carrie May, brother RV and sister in law Helen and Junior Middleton and his wife Ruby Also by her son’s James Adam Self and James Thomas Self and granddaughter Jana Self and grandson Charles Middleton
She is survived by her daughter Betty Self Walls of Austin, and daughter in law Jackie Self; Her grandsons Ted Walls, Quinton Self and Eli Self and their respective wives, Diane, Jade and Mellissa and great grandson Noah Walls, and granddaughters, Haley Walls, Courtney Self and Kayla Self and nieces and nephews, Roy, Doyle, Genève, Jeanette, Peggy, Caroline, Edwin and Sharon and all their children and Grandsons by marriage, Michael, Dennis and Frank Surface and their wives and children.
She was one of the sweetest and kindest persons, and was loved by all and will be truly missed. There will be a graveside celebration of her life on Friday Nov 18 ,2011 at Rosewood Cemetery , 2602 Old Humble Rd. (S. Houston Ave.), Humble Texas 77396 281-441-2171.
