

Minerva Marie Lawrence died peacefully at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, Texas on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 15, 2010. She was born in New Orleans, Louisianna on October 8, 1921 to the late Gustav and Adelaide Schumann. On November 28, 1940, she and the love of her life, Houston Rollen Lawrence, Sr. were united in marriage.
Minerva founded Lawrence Costumes and Houston Costume Galleries where she designed and produced costumes for many theater productions.
Minerva was preceded in death by her loving husband, Houston R. Lawrence, Sr.;her parents; two infant sons; grandson, Philip; two sisters, Adelaide Boyce and Rosemarie Mixon. She is survived by her six daughters: Rev. Mindy Lawrence; Shirley Gonzales; Teresa Clay and husband, David; Hulda Coskey and husband, Bill; Christine Moreland and husband, Craig; Adele Schull and husband, Philip; and her five sons: Houston R. Lawrence, Jr, and wife, DeNize, Foster City, CA; Rodney Lawrence and wife, Barbara “Sam,” Cameron Park, CA; Emile Lawrence and wife, Leah, Gatesville, TX; Micheal Lawrence and partner, Soll Pullman, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Lee Lawrence, Houston, TX; 21 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Minerva is survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. The family thanks her caregiver and friend, Chely Rios, for her devotion.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 17 at 6:00pm, prior to the Rosary at 7:30pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Rev. Msgr. George Sheltz of the Houston-Galveston Diocese officiating. Interment will follow.
Those serving as pallbearers will be: Houston Lawrence, Rodney Lawrence, Emile Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Lee Lawrence, David Clay, Bill Coskey, Craig Moreland, and Phil Schull.
