Miriam was born May 21, 1928 in Maxwell Iowa, the daughter of Willis & Etta Elizabeth (Davis) Evans. Miriam was the youngest of 12. She had 9 sisters and 2 brothers.
Miriam was a long standing member of the Maxwell Presbyterian Church choir and later a singer on Radio Shows and with Ballroom Bands including the Gene Emerald Show, The Arnie Lidell Band and the Lawrence Welk Show. She was offered to tour with Sully Mason in the summer of 1946, but chose to marry instead.
Miriam graduated from Maxwell High School in 1946. A graduating class of 19. Following her graduation she married Wendel (Rick) Harbour on December 18, 1946.
Miriam & Rick moved to Houston Texas in 1949. In 1953 they moved to Freeport Texas where Rick started his Insurance Agency and they began a family. Mark Evans Harbour was born on May 10, 1959 and Sarah Marie Harbour on June 3, 1963.
Rick Harbour was admitted to a VA Hospital in Houston in 1972 with Huntingtons disease so Miriam moved the family to be closer to him. Rick passed away at a VA Hospital in Marlin Texas on May 30, 1981.
William (Bill) Pearce, a longtime family friend, helped Miriam through the years that Rick was hospitalized and became a big part of her life. After years together they fell in love and where married on January 10,1982.
This marriage brought the 2 families, who had been close friends for years, together as one. This family included Mark & Sarah Harbour and Bill’s children Shauna Johnston and Kirk Pearce.
Bill sadly passed away on September 1, 2001.
Miriam is survived by her son Mark Harbour and his wife Paula who live in Oklahoma, Her daughter Shauna Johnston and her husband Buddy who live in Texas, her son Kirk Pearce and his wife Judy who live in Georgia and her dear friends Sallie VanWay and Debbie Frazier who live in Texas.
Miriam had 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Miriam is preceded in death by Rick Harbour and Bill Pearce her 2 wonderful husbands, her daughter Sarah Girards and all 11 of her siblings.
A private service of remembrance will be held on May 8th at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston Texas.
