

Lieutenant Colonel Modesto "Moe" Rivera Jr., age 70, passed away on May 3, 2025, in Destin, Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Moe's vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to service left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born on January 30, 1955, in Ancon, Panama he pursued a life of purpose and excellence from an early age. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and later on his Masters from University of Phoenix, laying the foundation for a distinguished career that spanned both military and civilian service.
Moe proudly served in the United States Army for 26 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His leadership and commitment to his country were evident throughout his military tenure.
Following his retirement from the Army, he continued to serve the public for another 25 years with the Houston Airport System. His dedication to duty and community remained steadfast throughout his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Moe was known for his charismatic personality and boundless energy. He embraced life with enthusiasm -whether running, swimming, cycling, playing racquetball, or traveling. His zest for life was infectious; he brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
Moe’s faith was central to his life. He found spiritual fulfillment through both Christian and Jewish traditions and was actively involved with Beth Yeshua, Salem Oasis of Peace, and Full Gospel Ministries. His deep spirituality enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Ines Rivera; daughters Stefany Colom and Rebecca Rivera; grandson Jordan Ramos; father Modesto Rivera Sr.; sisters Nancy Rivera and Araceli Partida; mother-in-law Carmen Rubio; father-in-law Victor Rubio; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mercedes Rivera.
A true light in every room he entered, Moe had a gift for making others feel seen and valued. His caring nature and playful spirit made him not only beloved but unforgettable.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Braeswood Church, 10611 Fondren Road, Houston, TX 77096.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, from 03:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a service from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
