Moises Ruben Mata Sr.

1924 - 2018

Moises Ruben Mata Sr., age 93, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grand father, quietly and peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Moises was preceded in death by his wife Rachel C. Mata, his daughter Sylvia Freeman and son-in-law Horace Freeman. He is survived by his son Moises (Moe) R. Mata Jr. and his wife Rose; and his four grand children Ruben D. Freeman, Angelica A. Cordero, Crystal E. Mata and Matthew R. Mata. Moises was born on November 18, 1924 in Harlingen, Texas.

Moises was a WWII Veteran who served in the U.S. Army Company E 114th Infantry from 1942 to 1945 and was Honorably Discharged in 1945. He was awarded 3 Silver stars and 1 Bronze medal. On September 5, 1945, he married the love of his life Rachel Campos. Moises worked for the Farm Credit Bank of Texas for more than 30 years before retiring.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway Street in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway Street in Houston. Interment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Avenue in Houston.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
