Monica was born on the 23rd of September 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Josephine and Marion Klotz, who precede her in death. She attended Incarnate Word Academy. She was a familiar face to everyone at Fulbright & Jaworski, where she worked for 32 years alongside dear friends. Monica enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe with her sisters and husband.
Closer to home she could be found lunching at school with her grandkids, watching their ballgames, dance recitals, and karate exhibitions... or just having them over for a weekend at Granny & Pap's house where they would spend the night and enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner. She adored her large family - spending time with her sisters, cousins, children, and grandchildren warmed her heart. Her laughter and smiling eyes lit up the room. She survived cancer for fifteen years and lived a full, positive life. Monica will be remembered by her family and friends as a gentle, caring, loyal woman who cared unconditionally, gave without question, and held honesty in high regard.
Monica is preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 37 years, Bill Cooksey. She is survived by daughters, Kasey Marsh and her husband, Jack, and Erin Fryer; grandchildren, Andrew Fryer, Lindsay Fryer, Claire Marsh and Connor Marsh; sisters, Mary Ann Spencer, Charlotte Carr, Nancy Stark, Donna Devries; brothers, Marion Klotz, Jr., Ronnie Klotz, and Norby Klotz; "Sister-Cousins," Gale Parker and Sharon Menefee; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as a host of friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 10th of May, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o'clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 11th of May, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Monica’s name may be directed to Child Advocates, Inc., 2401 Portsmouth, Houston, TX, 77098.
