Montserrat, affectionately known by many as “Monse,” was born on June 30, 1992, in Houston, Texas, as the eldest daughter of Jose and Bernandina Botello, a family with Mexican roots.
She attended KIPP Houston High School and later studied at Houston Baptist University, where she pursued her passion for education. She dedicated her career to teaching elementary school children and, most recently, worked as a teacher at Northshore Elementary, where she was recognized as “Rookie of the Year.” Her love for children and dedication to education were an important part of her life.
Monse was married for 11 years to her husband, Fairon Menjivar, her one and only husband and the father of her two children, Danae and Luka Menjivar. She was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in her family and her home.
She enjoyed reading, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, keeping her home organized, watching her favorite shows with her daughter, teaching her young son, and traveling with her husband and children. She also enjoyed supporting her husband in his love of soccer and golf and remained very close to both her own family and her husband’s family.
She is survived by her husband, Fairon Menjivar; her children, Danae Menjivar and Luka Menjivar; her parents, Jose Botello and Bernandina Botello; her siblings, Emanuel, Alexandro, and Gabriela; her extended family; and her beloved poodle, “Oso.”
During her final weeks, Monse and her husband received the Sacrament of Matrimony through the Church, and she was blessed to witness her young son receive the Sacrament of Baptism. She passed peacefully in her husband’s arms, surrounded by love and with deep faith and trust that her family would continue to care for her children.
Monse will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, dedicated educator, and faithful friend. Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave to her family, her students, and every person whose life she touched.
