Moon was my first boss at Richmond State School. I followed her to TCLV and then she convinced me to do some contracting with MHMRA. Together we opened many group homes in the community. She was a great teacher and mentor. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. She was loved and admired.

I worked under Moon for a number of years at MHMRA. She was the best boss. I'm so sorry to hear about her passing. Of all the children I remember Mariellen fondly for she inspired me greatly.

"Miss Moon" as I and some many loving called her, was a wonderful human being and great lady. She was a mentor to my mother and I had the blessing of knowing her literally all my life. She was the Mavericks Swim Team, I can remember many a swim meet trip, buzzing down the road in a huge bus full of athletes, and Miss Moon was always so enthusiastic about the upcoming competition. I will miss her terribly along with so many others. Rest In Peace you wonderful woman. Love you.

We first knew Moon back around 2006-2008 when as officers of the Houston Heather & Thistle Society we met to plan our annual Burns Suppers. Moon was always there as the representative of RSCDS, and a great job she did. Always positive with suggestions. And at the events themselves her group of country dancers was always a highlight. We always enjoyed seeing her after that. A gracious lady.

I met Moon when I first started Scottish Country Dancing in the Heights in 2009. She was a bright voice of encouragement to me and a delightful fellow dancer, and we all looked forward to her company once a week. She contributed so much to the Scottish Country Dance community in Houston, and we miss her very much. My warm condolences to her family. Moon is very fondly remembered by so many people in so many different, overlapping circles!

We've been dancing Scottish Country since 2000 and our earliest and fondest memory of Moon was when we "dropped in" to her League City class about that time. We didn't know much and were afraid we couldn't do The St John River! Moon encouraged us with "I know you can do it! Come on! and we've been dancing ever since. We miss her and are grateful for having known her.

My special needs daughter began swimming with the Mavericks team around 5-6 years ago and Moon was still very active with the team. She was so helpful and welcoming and such a wonderful coach. And what a legacy she leaves! She not only was she much loved, but she deserves a world of respect and honor for her tireless life's work for the benefit of people with special needs. Rest in Peace Moon.
