Harvey Lee Rusher was born in Crockett, Texas on February 8, 1936, to the late Tobe Rusher and Mary Purvis Rusher. Harvey united with Kashmere Gardens Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the teachings of Reverend Holland. He was a faithful member for over 50 years, where he served as a Deacon in the church, a member of the Male Chorus, and a Sunday School Teacher.
He worked several jobs with long tenures at all of them. He worked for Houston Sash and Doors, Grocery Supply Company, Aldine School ISD, and his Tractor Service. He had many clients all around the Houston area and even caring for properties for The City of Houston. Harvey was a very dedicated and hard−working man that never settled for the minimum.
He was a very loving and caring person that cherished his family. Family was always first with him. He was always willing to help anyone in the time of need. His famous words were “Your Time Is My Time”.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Mary Purvis Rusher; brothers, Allen Rusher, Clarence Rusher, Seymour Rusher, Albert Rusher, Odell Rusher, Bill Daniels; sisters, Brenette Rusher Harris, Mamie Lee Traylor Parker, Ollie Mae Hopkins; two sons, Manuel Ray Rusher and Thomas Charles.
Harvey leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 56 years Earnestine Rusher; one sister, Gerline Patton; eight children, Ann Rusher (Paul Ross), Reta Hubbard (Carlton Hubbard), Marilyn Bacon (Ellester Bacon), Harvey F. Rusher, Gary Rusher, Leon Rusher, Cleotis Spearman, and Michael Rusher (Trina Rusher); 29 grandchildren, 26 great−grandchildren, and a host of very close nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
