

Joel Allen Young was born on October 24, 1958 to the late Robert Young Sr. and Laura Belle Young in Houston, Texas. He was the fifth child born of this union. Two of his siblings, Maurice Sonier and Charles Edward Young preceded him in death. Joel accepted Christ as his personal Savior in the early years of his life and was baptized at Second Cavalcade Baptist Church. He was educated in the Houston Public Schools system and graduated from Kashmere Senior High School in 1977. He met and married Michelle Brown on December 28, 2007. No children were born to this union. Joel was quiet in nature. He never wanted any attention drawn on himself. He always greeted you with a smile and everyone was always welcome to his home to enjoy watching sports along with his famous back yard bbq. He enjoyed, board games, drag racing (NHRA), fishing, listening to music, traveling and sharing times with friends and family. He spent several years as an entrepreneur operating his own trucking company. Later being employed by The Houston Food Bank where he was a dedicated employee until his death. Joel departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory a dear friend and wife, Michelle Young, two stepdaughters, Chrissy Brown and Jonique Adams, one stepson, Jemond Smith, two sisters, Deborah Ann King (Arthur) and Diane Young, four brothers, Bradford Earl Young, Rodney Craig Young, Robert Young, Jr., James Ray Young (Deborah). Two nieces, Charlene Hodgin and Brittiny Shorts, two nephews, Dezra Nauls and Robbie Shorts (Keia). A host of great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
