Our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend Oscar Luchin, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2019. He was 79 years old. Oscar Luchin, Jr. was born on April 27, 1940 in Natchitoches, LA to Oscar and Fannie Luchin. As a child, Oscar enjoyed playing basketball and fixing items around the house. He graduated from Central High School in Natchitoches in 1958. Soon after graduating high school, Oscar moved to Houston, TX where he became gainfully employed for 41 years at Cameron Iron, which later became Wyman Gordon. Oscar’s friends and family have joyful memories about his desire to provide for his family. Oscar was the entrepreneur of entrepreneurs and always had a side gig. Among his business “ventures” were selling BBQ, electricity, Shackley vitamins, phones, personal security systems, Organo Gold, concrete steps, Luchin & Sons Construction and many, many more. He had a God given talent and a creative mind that allowed him to build and create masterpieces made of both wood and metal. Oscar has been a devoted member of New Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Houston, TX for over 30 years. During his years at New Mount Calvary, Oscar dedicated his time to the hospitality committee, built kneeling benches and worked on different projects throughout the church. Oscar was a loving and devoted husband, father and servant of God. He was always there to greet others with that bright smile that warmed the hearts of anyone that he met and the doors of his home were always open to those in need. Oscar was preceded in death by his father Oscar Luchin, Sr. and his mother Fannie Luchin; sisters Elnora Murray and Victoria Alfred; brother Ernest Luchin; and son Fred Luchin. He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Sylvia Luchin; and five children, Gregory Luchin (Alecia Luchin), Adrian Luchin (Beatrice Luchin), Aaron Luchin (Carla Luchin), Shawndra Johnson (Joseph Johnson), Yachtze Luchin (Tonya Luchin); and his sisters Vera Luchin Eskridge and Ruby Sims. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and other relatives and friends. ?
