

On November 13, 1952 God blessed the late Willie Holmes and the late Elisa Thompson with a handsome baby boy named Rondel Thomas Holmes. Rondel spent his childhood days in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating from Joseph S. Clark High School in 1972, he moved to Houston, Texas. A Time to Live: After completing high school in August 1972, he moved to Houston, Texas where he attended Texas Southern University. While attending the University, he went to work for Houston Community Newspapers in 1972. There he started off running as Dispatcher picking up ads for the newspaper. Shortly after, he became Supervisor of Dispatch -Service Department. Later he became the Purchasing Agent for the entire company. After his purchasing days, he was promoted to the Production Director and System Manager. By this time he had made the newspaper his career. He retired from the newspaper June 29, 2007 due to illness. A Time Not to Mourn: On June 29, 2002 he exchanged his earthly duties for heavenly duties; not supervised by man, but God. He leaves to cherish: loving and devoted wife Jacqueline Royal Holmes; three children: Myrl, Royshan and Kirvin; grandchildren: LaShawndra, Emica, Mersadez, K. J. and Joshua; two great grandchildren: Rhiley and Rickey two aunts: Ruthie Mae Anderson and Essie (Robert) Rogers; three brothers-in-law: Sedell (Edwina) Washington, Bruce (Debbie) Washington and Rodney Daugherty; two sisters-in-law: Ruthie (Larry) Shields and Teta Hankins; just like a brother-in-law Ronald (Carol) Vaughn; just like a sister-in-law Kathy (LC) Johnson; just like his brothers Theo, Leon, Connell, Desontos and Melvin; just like his girls Sarlonda, Shelia, Sherrie, Rachel and Cynthia; and a host of relatives and friends
