

On January 30th 1964, God blessed Clarence and Mary Jane Perry with a beautiful daughter. They named her Theresa Perry-Carston known to many as "Resa". She was born in Houston, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Kashmere High School where she received her diploma. After graduating high school she met her Prince Charming, Charles Carston who she married and to this union a baby girl was born, TaQuerria J. Carston. During her membership at Greater Jerusalem, she served as an Usher and on the Homeless Committee. She also taught arts and crafts at Vacation Bible School. She attended and graduated from beauty school at Houston Training School with her license in Cosmetology. She worked as a stylist at Greater Jerusalem Beauty and Barber. Theresa’s greatest gift was her hands. She loved to create beautiful things such as handmade jewelry, crocheted blankets, purses, shoes, scarves and hats. It greatly pleased her to share her creations with friends and family. She also enjoyed dreaming up and executing many different hairstyles and nail designs for her clients. Theresa expressed her personality through her style and in the graceful way in which she carried herself. Shopping for gifts for herself and loved ones was her favorite hobby and she had excellent taste. To know her was to love her, indeed. She had a way with children and everyone from the neighbors children to children of the church even nieces and nephews wanted to be in her presence to learn from her. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary Jane Perry, grandmother - Thelma Sanders; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Julius and Albertha Price; brother-in-law Paul Carston. Theresa Carston leaves to celebrate her life her loving husband of 35 years - Charles Carston; one daughter - TaQuerria Carston; mother-in-law - Rosa Mae Laxey; biological father - Jessie Holmes; godmother - Mary Jane Charles; one brother- Larry Perry; three godchildren - DejaNique "Chi Chi" Jones, Jayci "Princess" Atkinson and Raighen "Rai" Tolliver; one brother-in-law - James Carston; three sisters-in-law - Eva Mae Bernard, Janice Dixon and Bernadette Thomas along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
