

Trudie Adams was born in Ruston, Louisiana to Gus and Annie Adams. Trudie was the sixth of eight children. A praying mother taught her the ways of the Lord and at an early age, she accepted Christ. Nurtured in a Christian environment with talented siblings, the sisters formed their own gospel group called “The Adam Sisters”. Trudie married Roy Howard in Ruston, Louisiana, on October 31, 1942 and to this union three children were born. She later moved to Houston where she joined St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. C.S. Gunnels, where she remained a member for over 50 years. Trudie was a faithful and loving member serving on numerous programs and enthusiastically singing in the choir for many years. She continued to serve faithfully until her health began to decline. She was employed as a private duty nurse and a domesticated engineer. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Eli, Adell and PJ Adams), three sisters (Heddie Johnson, Lillie White and Gussie Mae Mack), her husband Roy Howard and son Leroy Howard. She leaves to celebrate her legacy, one sister Ithalean Carter, two daughters; Maude Carlton (Frank) and Linda Stewart; Daughter-in-law Cassie Howard; six grandchildren Trelisia Nelson (Eric), Trena Howard, Everett Whitaker, Willie Smith, Dwight Smith (Lisa) and Lecrouso Smith (Nian). Great-grandchildren; Anthony Howard (Myeshia), Melissia Scott, Everett Whitaker II, Cierra Smith, Xavier Smith, Kennedy Smith, Makayla Smith and Heaven Whitaker. Great- great grandchildren; Amiyah Howard, Makaila Jones. Sister-in-law Gloria Battle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other caring relatives and friends.
