August 31st, 1987-May 4th, 2024
Nadia Mujica, age 36, took her final breaths in my arms surrounded by family, as she peacefully passed to the other side on May 4th, 2024, at MD Anderson after her fierce battle with Ovarian cancer.
She was born on August 31st, 1987 in Palau, Coahuila, but grew up in the quaint town of Harvard, Illinois. After high school Nadia packed up and left for Houston at the age of 20, which she always regretted for how hot the weather is! She met her husband and life partner of 10 years, Andrew at the University of Houston. She had a career in logistics, and international exports/imports.
Nadia had a quiet and introverted personality, but was very outgoing and witty. Laughter always surrounded her as she could find humor in everything. She was fearless of the unknown and independent, always wanting to try new things and experience everything life could offer. Her empathy for all living things, conscious and unconscious, was touching, no matter how small, everything had purpose. Everything was connected in her eyes. Nadia loved to travel, anything true crime, art, fashion, spoiling her dog Leo, biking, and spending quality time with loved ones.
Nadia is survived by her husband, Andrew; her mother, Blanca; her sisters, Rosie & Diana; her best friend of 17 years, Leo, her pomeranian; as well as an abundance of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Mujica.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Pamela Soliman and Dr. David Hong of MD Anderson. Their compassion for Nadia throughout her treatment meant the world to us. I also wish to thank the dedicated nurses and staff at the hospital for their unwavering support and kindness.
