It has taken me two weeks to be ready to write something here. Naila was a friend, a co-worker a leader and a coach. She is someone who made my job at HP both easier and much more fun. I spoke to her multiple times a day. I loved that she always told me EXACTLY what she wanted me to do, but always called to see what she could do to help me. She gave me advice when I asked for it-- and often when I didn't. Few people cared as much about people and details as much as Naila.

Naila was so good at finding the good in all people and bringing people together on issues even when they didn't always agree.

One of my favorite memories of Naila was sharing a meal with her. Sometimes with a group, sometimes one on one-- always an event whether we were at a fancy place or at some bad cafeteria. One night in particular, we had a meeting in Seattle that lasted into a Friday afternoon. Naila never liked late flight, so she was staying over in Bellevue so I invited her to our house for dinner with my wife Carolyn and my daughter Phoebe. They had all heard about each other for years and it was a special opportunity for them to all meet. I remember how excited Phoebe was that she was taller than Naila-- so we documented it with this photo.

I will miss you my friend. I can't believe you are gone.

I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Naila's passing. My sincere sympathies to her family at this most difficult time. I had the true pleasure to work with Naila at HP and remember her with great fondness. She was bright, caring, gracious and strong - a wonderful role model and mentor for women. I loved her sense of humor and passion for everything she did. She cared for her work and most importantly for people. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

Dear Naila, we will always remember the first time we met. It was when you came with Kamal to our place in Paris . You talked about your future projects, career, trips to Egypt and your life in Houston. Your optimism, enthusiasm and “joie de vivre” were contagious. We will miss your smile and wise advice. You were more than a family member .A close friend.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work for Naila while employed at HP. She was an excellent manager, mentor and leader that taught me many valuable skills, She gave me the opportunity to work on many ground breaking projects with partners and always encouraged me to think outside of the box and be my authentic self. Her strength, tenacity, humor and kindness were felt by many. I am thankful and blessed to cross paths with Naila and she will be missed greatly.
