Nancy Lee Mundt went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2026, following a courageous four-year battle with brain cancer. She passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and compassion.
Nancy was born on September 30, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from Mary Carroll High School, and attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1969. She went on to become a teacher, a calling that reflected her heart for guiding and encouraging others.
A devoted follower of Jesus, Nancy’s faith was the foundation of all she did. Her greatest joy was sharing the love of Christ with others—through conversation, service, and by example in the way she lived each day. She found deep connection in her community at Second Baptist Church, where she faithfully served, formed lasting friendships, and poured into the lives of those around her.
Nancy lived to serve others. Always ready to help someone in need, she will be remembered for her generous spirit and willingness to give her time and resources. As a trained Biblical counselor, she faithfully encouraged women to find comfort and strength in God’s Word. Having come to faith at a young age, she remained committed to sharing the Gospel at every opportunity.
She loved opening her home for small groups and Bible studies, creating spaces where people felt welcomed, known, and loved. Nancy delighted in hosting gatherings and celebrations, making each one meaningful and memorable—always adding thoughtful touches that made others feel special.
Above all, Nancy cherished her role as “Gammy.” Being a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she poured her love into each of her grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
Nancy was a devoted wife of 50 years to Randy and a loving mother to her three children and their spouses: Courtney and Derek, Brandon and Quinn, and Preston and Emily. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to eight: Zeke, Mercy, Mya, Chloe, Parker, Elizabeth, Henry, and Emery (and baby brother on the way).
Her family will remember her for her unwavering faith, steadfast determination, and the way she made others feel deeply loved and valued. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, hospice team, and the many friends and family members who provided support, love, and compassion during her final days.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, May 4th, at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church, Woodway Campus, in the Hankamer Chapel, with a reception at the Mundt residence to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the College of Biblical Studies in support of Nancy’s passion for Biblical counseling (www.cbshouston.edu, select “General Support” and write “Biblical Counseling Scholarship” in the comments).
