Dear Sandland family –
Our family sends their heart-felt sympathy at Nancy’s passing. She was such a special friend to me when we moved from Houston/La Marque to Indiana in the 1960’s. I’ll never forget my daughter coming home from school all excited because “there is a new girl and she is from Texas!”. As luck would have it, we lived very near each other. Nancy and I spent many mornings hiking the parks and birdwatching while our children were in school. Even after Nancy’s family moved back to Texas we kept in touch over the years and managed to enjoy the occasional birding trip, and even a visit with the whole family at my mother’s place in San Antonio.
Nancy was a kind and fast friend, whose memory I will always cherish! Her friendship was a God-given gift at a time when I needed a good friend. – Mary Schoomer
