

Naomi Stallworth Ashley went into a peaceful sleep surrounded by her family at the McAllen Heart Hospital on Saturday evening February 22, 2020 after living a gracious life in South Texas for about 2 years. Prior to living in the Rio Grande Valley, she lived in Houston, Texas and Brewton, Alabama.
Naomi was born in Castleberry, Alabama on March 29, 1935 to the late Ollie Stallworth Sr. and Novella Nettle Stallworth. She graduated from the Conecuh County Training School in Evergreen, Alabama with a high school diploma. Her high school yearbook has her noted as the best dancer of her senior class. Naomi loved the excitement of dancing and music which brought joy to her and others throughout her life. Naomi was an avid reader and she often said and sent words of wisdom to all who entered her pathway.
Naomi and Fred were childhood sweethearts and their love for each other continued to flourish as they made their lives together in marriage on October 10,1955 in Houston, Texas. To their union were born four children, Larry Donell, Beverly Faye, Kerry Wayne, and Freddie Renee. Naomi cherished her roles of being a caring mother and loving wife. As a meticulous homemaker, Naomi happily encouraged and participated with her family in many of their spiritual and educational journey. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended the New Hope Baptist Church in Evergreen, Alabama. She was a faithful and long-time active member of the Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where she served as an Usher.
After she and Fred established a solid home foundation, she pursued a career in Nursing. She worked tirelessly to care for others as a Private Duty Nurse, and gave more than ten years taking care of Mrs. Eugenia Rayzor.
Fred has had 65 plus years of memories that he will continue to cherish of his beloved Naomi. Her four children Larry Ashley, Beverly (David II) Fridie, Kerry Ashley and Freddie Renee Floyd will each have a book of memories of their mom along with her three grandchildren, Termaine Ashley, Asia Dodd and Artricia Floyd; one great grandson, Ade Ashley; sisters, Lucille Bolden, Celesta Motton, Mary (Sanford) Avant, Novella (Frederick, Jr.) McGinnis and Myrtle Lee Coleman, who proceed her in death; brothers, Eddie James Stallworth and the late Ollie Lee, Jr; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Lee Ashley-Johnson; her one aunt, Mrs. Louise Stallworth-Anderson; one godchild, Janice Bradley, and a host of relatives, good neighbors and friends.
