Nazar Serop Dawood of Houston, Texas passed away on 27th of July, 2025 at the age of 78. He was born on February 14th, 1947 in Kirkuk, Iraq. He graduated from University of Technology in Baghdad, Iraq with a degree in civil engineering. Nazar practiced civil engineering in Baghdad, Iraq, both in private and public sectors before moving to London, England in 1972. There he joined prominent engineering firms and gained invaluable experience in international markets and contracts. In 1976, Nazar joined Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the UAE for an executive project management position, tasked with overseeing the execution and delivery for some of the world’s largest petrochemical engineering projects at the time. His expertise allowed him opportunities to travel extensively and apply his knowledge to several projects in places such as Milan, Italy and Tokyo, Japan.
Nazar enjoyed many hobbies, including tending to gardens at his home and engaging in fishing trips with his three sons. He had a passion for the culinary arts and is well-remembered by his family for cooking remarkable dishes on a regular basis. He applied skills gained from his working career to manage his own home improvement projects quite often. Above all else, nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and supporting his children in every one of their pursuits.
Nazar is survived by his wife, Naomi Dawood; and his three sons, Eric Onstead, Jon Onstead, and Karl Dawood. He is preceded in death by his parents, Serop Dawood and Victoria Dawood.
The family would like to especially thank his siblings, Anna, Samar, Selwa, and Samir; his niece and nephew, Rita and Shant; and caregivers Neri Chavez and Maria Reyes for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
