She was born to the late Frank and Nellie Lopez in Houston, Texas and was lovingly nicknamed Molly by her uncles. Molly graduated from Reagan High School in Houston and retired from Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital as a scheduler and interpreter. She was bi-lingual. Later, she served as a volunteer at HCA North Cypress Hospital.
She married the late Ray A Davis and they lived together in Houston, Texas for 14 years before relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the next 15 years and again returned to Houston. Molly is survived by her two daughters: Debra Buckles and son-in-law Steve, of Houston and Pamela Davis Mills and son-in-law Tim, of Houston. She is also survived by her five grandchildren-Ethan Buckles and wife Erin-Houston, Seth Buckles and wife Victoria-Houston, Caleb Buckles and Amber Monroe-Houston, Olivia Buckles-Grandview, MO, Skylar Mills-Tulsa, OK, two great grandsons-Matthew Buckles and Asher Buckles, her siblings: Mickey Gonzalez-Missouri City, Patricia Blackwell and husband Luther-Bay City, Ramon Lopez and wife Sherry-Houston, Cathy Buckles and husband Richard-Houston, a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Molly/Nellie was predeceased by her loving husband in 1996. A couple of years later, she found love again, married the late Frank Caporella, and was welcomed into his loving Italian family. They lived together in Houston, Texas until the passing of Frank in 2009.
Nellie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went.
She was known to many for her ability to love others well, her gift of hospitality (her door was always open), and her infectious laugh. She loved her family and friends and loved to cook for them. She was an amazing cook! She was known by her family for her fried chicken, and Caldo de Reyes-she made the best! Among her hobbies were shopping, I already mentioned cooking, watching old movies, listening to her favorite Latin music, bowling, fishing, and dancing on Friday nights. Often, she spoke about her vacations with Ray to Hawaii and a cruise with close friends. But what really caused her to light up was seeing her great grandchildren! Nellie, our mother had several funny sayings from the past that we still laugh about today. Nellie dedicated her life to Christ during her confirmation at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Houston and was a long-time member of Timbergrove Baptist Church in Houston, TX, Glen Rose Baptist Church in Houston, Southern Hills Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK, and Calvary Community Church in Houston, TX. She told us that her favorite hymn was “I Come to the Garden” and that she remembered singing it in the choir.
