Nita graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School and later earned a Sterile Processing Technician Certification from Medvance Institute. She worked for seven years at Amazon's fulfillment center, where her dedication and hard work were evident to all who knew her. Nita had a creative spirit and a love for art and puzzles. She also found joy in nurturing ivy plants, which reflected her appreciation for nature’s beauty.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harl Gay Ausbie Sr.; her grandfathers, Lester Bill Thompson and Earl Ausbie; her grandmothers, Mattie Thompson and Gladys Ausbie; her aunt, Lestene Sewell; and her nephews, Patrick Ausbie and Gabriel Dean.
Nita is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Blaylock; her daughter, Latricia Rena Ausbie; and her cherished grandchildren: Shemar Thomas, Clifton Batiste III, Adam Batiste, Chrislyn Frederick, and Chrishelle Frederick. She is also survived by her siblings: Gawania Spigner, Gladys Dean, Harl Ausbie Jr., Lester Ausbie, and Meloneshia Blaylock Massie. Her nieces and nephews—La’Nitra Dean, Degray Dillard, Tysheka Ausbie-Cunningham, Clayton Chester, and Regina Massie—will also remember her fondly.
A visitation for Nita will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A graveside service will occur Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
Nita will be laid to rest in Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
