

Noel Lloyd Chandler, affectionately known as Uncle Palmy and Granddad, passed away
peacefully on April 19th, 2025, in Spring, Texas at the age of 89. Born to Thomas Waithe and
Ina Chandler, on December 23rd 1935, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Noel spent his
formative years in Trinidad and Antigua before moving his family to Jamaica Queens, New York.
He was the youngest of five siblings; Zita, Joyce, Milton and Sheila.
A Master Chef and Caterer, Noel dedicated over 50 years to the culinary arts, working in the
hotel and airline food service Industries across Trinidad, Antigua and the USA. He was
renowned for his wedding cakes, freshly baked breads, and countless delicious treats, bringing
joy to family friends and clients alike. His home was always filled with love, laughter and open
arms as he cherished entertaining and ensuring everyone left well fed and happy. In his later
years, he found joy in playing games with family, watching westerns and playing solitaire.
Noel was a devout man of faith and active leader in his church communities in New York and
Texas. He served in many roles, including sabbath school teacher, superintendent, head elder,
investment secretary, and community service leader, to name a few. Noel received numerous
accolades for his dedication and service. He was known to host the entire church for food, fun
and games. He spearheaded the annual community services Christmas feast for the Acres
Home Community, which was evidenced by the late Sylvester Turner and Sheila Jackson Lee.
He also engaged in feeding the homeless of Houston.
In 1954, the first time Noel laid eyes on Gloria Loleta Olliverre, he knew she was the one for
him. He always recounted seeing her in a yellow and black polka dot dress as she stepped out
of a car on Sipiora Hill. On May 7th 1955, Noel married the love of his life, Gloria, his “G” and
together they built a beautiful family of 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Their love was admired by many. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather; Noel was a
provider, role model and pillar of strength for his family and community. He was preceded in
death by his siblings and beloved daughter Sandra Fair ( Michael ). Noel leaves behind his
loving wife of nearly 70 years, Gloria, for whom he became caregiver throughout her illness until
his last day. He leaves behind his children, Jeff (Anita), Stephen (Bridgette), Robert (Rose),
Ryan, and Rosalie (Paul); bonus daughters, Beverly, Mercedes, Karlene, Peggy and Vanessa;
devoted Nieces, Grace, Rosalyn, and Angela; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of
nieces and nephews from the Chandler’s, Blackman’s, Wright’s Sital’s, Watson’s, Bembry’s
Barnett’s and Ollivierre families; and many others who lovingly called him dad or granddad.
Noel's Legacy of love, faith, and generosity will forever live in the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation for Noel will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hebron Seven Day Adventist Church 7902 Wheatley St., Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The committal will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 11am at Calvary Hill Cemetery located at 21723 Aldine Westfield Rd. Humble Texas 77338.
