

Francis Noel Fruge, age 92, passed away on the 11th of April 2016, at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center in Houston, TX. He was born on the 1st of January 1924, in New Orleans, LA. Noel was a United States Marine Corps WWII veteran, who served in the South Pacific in the Solomon Islands campaign including service on Okinawa. He was honorably discharged after three years of service at the end of the war with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Noel attended and graduated with a BA degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
Noel’s passion in life was tennis. He served on the board of the Houston Racquet Club and was an award winning tennis player even in his senior years playing in tournaments around the state of Texas. Having an entrepreneurial spirit, he and his wife Rose started the Noel Fruge Company in Houston, a successful Custom Picture Framing business which they operated for almost 40 years. After selling the company and retiring he enjoyed life becoming a world traveler visiting Europe and Russia among other foreign locations.
Noel was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Rose in 1990, and his companion for many years Betty McCurdy, and his parents Rosalie and Adolph Fruge. He is survived by his lifelong friend and cousin, June L. Digby, and godson, Thomas L. Berot and fondly remembered by many close friends including the Lien families, the Nguyen family, the McCurdy family and the Adams family. He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
Noel’s life will be celebrated during a Memorial Service at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 18th of April 2016, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057.
