Norma was born in Manhattan, NY the youngest of six sisters and two brothers. She never knew her father, Anthony, as he had passed away prior to her birth. Norma’s mother, Bridgette, bravely continued to raise her large family with the help of her older children. Since Bridgette had to work, Norma was often cared for as a child by her older siblings. As the “baby” of the family, she received much love and attention from all.
Norma was a member of the “Greatest Generation”, living through the Great Depression and World War II. She was a good student and graduated high school. She was a bit of a tomboy, excelling at baseball. She had many friends in the East Harlem neighborhood where she grew up. Many of those kids stayed friends with her for life. One of those childhood friends, Alfred “Fred” Masullo, became her husband. Norma had one child of her own, her son Alfred, who she doted on. The family moved to the Bronx, NY in the 1950’s. Norma made a happy life for her small, immediate family as a full-time homemaker with much love. But her life revolved around staying close to all her siblings, her in-laws and their families. She loved and was loved by her many nieces and nephews. Norma and Fred moved to Houston, TX in the fall of 2011 to be close to her son and his family.
Norma was a practicing Catholic throughout her life going to weekly mass and receiving sacraments. Since she loved and served her God and her neighbor in life, she surely has gone to be with her Heavenly Father in paradise since her passing.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, and all of her brothers and sisters. She will be deeply missed by her son, Alfred, and her daughter-in-law, Lorraine, and her granddaughter, Lauren.
