Odessa Lee Smith

Odessa was born to Fred and Daisy (Stella Elizabeth) Fondren Lee on December 6, 1925 in Trinity County of Texas. She resided in Houston for over 50 years and was loved by all who knew her.

She married during World War II to Jasper Henry Smith on October 25, 1944 and was the loving mother to five children. Henry Smith of Fredericksburg, Texas; Patricia Nelson of Maryville, Tennessee; Beth Heidemann of Spring, Texas; Fred Smith of Katy, Texas and Evelyn Beard of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was a loving mother-in-law to Larry Nelson, Mark Heidemann, Scott Beard, and Olivia Smith.

She was a treasured grandmother to Mark, Brett, and Christopher Nelson; Elizabeth Reinke, Monica Bain, Jake and Blake Heidemann; Benjamin and Travis Smith and Sheryn Beard.

She was also a great grandmother of five: Avery, Gavin, Rachel, Robin, and Shyanne.

Odessa never knew a stranger and loved to garden. She had an amazing “green thumb”.

She was a light in our lives, and we will miss her dearly, until we meet again.

Receiving of family and friends will precede the assembly for a celebration of Odessa’s life on Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13401 Eastex Freeway at Lauder Rd., Houston, Texas. (281) 449-6511

The family will then assemble for a graveside service and internment.
