Odyssey Xzavier “Dagwood” Williams, a beloved father, son, brother, and pillar of the Houston community, passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas, on September 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, mentorship, and unshakeable community pride. Born in Houston on June 21, 1975, to Aundra Williams and the late Artis Allen, Dagwood brought an unmatched spark of joy into the world from the very beginning.
Dagwood grew up in Houston, attending Pleasantville Elementary and graduating from Furr High School in 1994. A hard worker from the start, he held several positions before earning his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). He spent years driving trucks across the city he loved so much.
But Dagwood’s true life’s work happened outside of his truck. He invested his spare time into mentoring his daughter and countless youth across the community. He was a dedicated coach in life and sports, teaching kids that becoming a great athlete meant working hard and maintaining excellent grades in school.
To know Dagwood was to laugh. He was a master jokester who spent his days coming up with unique nicknames for everyone he met. Charismatic, attentive, and genuinely authentic, he made it a lifelong priority to keep in touch with every single person he befriended. There was truly never a dull moment in his presence.
An absolute sports fanatic, Dagwood loved attending national basketball tournaments and scouting up-and-coming talent. Locally, he was a fixture at every North Shore High School game and various athletic events across the city—supporting local kids no matter the sport. When he wasn’t at a game, he could be found watching football, baseball, and basketball on TV, or laughing along to his favorite comedy shows like Martin and Dave Chappelle.
Dagwood was a devoted father, son, brother, cousin, and a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father, Artis Allen; his maternal grandparents, Ora Lee Aaron and Leo Aaron; his aunt, Betty Adams; and his uncle, Joe Aaron.
He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his joyful spirit his beloved daughter, Courtney Williams; his loving mother, Aundra Williams; and his two devoted brothers, Jydius Williams Sr. and Christopher Williams. He is also survived by his three cherished nephews, Jydius Williams Jr., Kory Williams, and Jydius Williams III; his two dear uncles, James Aaron and Leo Aaron; his very best friend Latanya Woods and his honorary nieces, Titi Arceneaux and Arianna Masters, alongside a host of cousins, extended family members, and a community of friends who will deeply miss his laughter and larger-than-life presence.
