On June 26, 1934, Ola Mae Douglas Graham was born to Rev. William Sr. and Ruby Douglas in Mansfield, Louisiana. She was baptized in Church of Christ, Kashmere Gardens C.O.C., Houston, TX. She attended Desoto Parish training school and finished at Phillis Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas. She married Melvin Graham Sr., on Jan. 26, 1951, in Harris County. Through this union, six children were born.
Ola Mae had a passion for community service and charity work with orphans, widows, and the sick and shut in. She had a love for reading, writing poetry, letters, and songs. Some of her favorite songs were “What a friend we have in Jesus” and “Cooling Waters”. She studied at Unity Christian School where she received a degree in The Science of Living. In her travels, she enjoyed visiting historical museums, parks, churches, art venues, and old bookstores. She was a Prayer Warrior with the hope that all her children and their offspring shall obey the gospel! She always had a prayer and food for anyone in need.
Preceded in death by: Melvin Graham Sr., Sheila Graham (daughter), Melvin Graham Jr. (Son), Steve Graham (Son), Joe Bell Douglas (brother), Abell Douglas (brother), William Douglas Jr.(Busta brother), Emma Cook (sister), and Martha Presley (sister).
Ola Mae Douglas Graham leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Regina Pointer, and Lillian Cook; one brother, Kenneth Douglas (Delvinia); two sons, Billy Graham Sr. (Paula), and Charles Graham Sr.(Angela); one daughter, Barbara Graham Harvey (Eric); twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation for Ola will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral services will immediately follow from 11:00 am to 12:00pm. The committal will be held from 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
