

Oscar Garcia Baltazar, born on October 10, 1943, in Carrizo, Coahuila, Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He was the beloved son of Manuelita Gonzalez and cherished husband of Rosa Maria Trueba Baltazar, with whom he shared an extraordinary 60 years of marriage.
Oscar was a talented businessman and entrepreneur, owning Rosa’s Mexican Restaurant and El Trocaderro Bar & Night Club in Odessa, Texas. His passion for this country led him to serve as a chef in the United States Army, where he honed his culinary skills and shared his love for food. Oscar was particularly fond of his wife’s authentic Mexican dishes, relishing every meal she lovingly prepared, including Menudo, Enchiladas, Caldo de Res, Mole and her delicious Tamales. While raising his kids in a military family Oscar also inspired four of his grandchildren to join the United States Military. All four became United States Marines.
In addition to his culinary talents, Oscar was a skilled craftsman, owning Oscar’s Welding Company, where he created beautiful very ornate wrought iron gates and fences. He had a zest for life and found joy in treasure hunting and gold mining, often using his metal detector to seek out hidden treasures. Oscar loved sharing his knowledge of weather patterns, minerals, and star navigation with his family, igniting their curiosity about the world around them.
A lover of music, Oscar enjoyed the songs of Vicente Fernandez and Pedro Infante, often singing at family gatherings and parties to spread joy and laughter. He was known for his quick wit, radiant smile, and love for sharing jokes and magic tricks to brighten others' days. His adventurous spirit took him across the globe, visiting places like Spain, Italy, Mexico, Iraq, and Dubai, as well as various states in the U.S.
Oscar was not only a dedicated husband but also a devoted family man who cherished the moments spent with loved ones. He was a fan of boxing and horse racing, and he enjoyed playing poker and barbecuing at home. His beloved pets, Sultan and Pretty Boy, were always by his side.
Oscar Garcia Baltazar's legacy of love, laughter, and culinary passion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will carry forward his spirit of joy and togetherness.
