

Oscar Reyes born in Houston, Texas on July 15, 1957, went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2013. Oscar was laid to rest on January 6, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents Misael “Mitchell” Reyes and Irene Gonzalez Reyes and his granddaughter Paris N. Atonio. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Garcia Reyes, his daughters Racquel and husband Falaniko “Niko” Atonio, and Jennifer Nicole Reyes, his grandchildren Isaiah and Sophia Atonio and Kalina Vela, his sisters Alice and Husband Jesus Hernandez and Esmeralda Reyes, his brother Mitchell “El Boy” Reyes. Oscar had five Stepchildren, Stephanie, Arthur Paul, Danielle, Cecily and Pete Sustaita and seven Step-grandchildren, Samuel Menchaca, Jr., Makayla, Savannah and Nathan Cordova, Christian Espinoza, and Abigail and Arthur Paul, III Sustaita. Nieces; Michelle, Paula, Diane, Irma, Esmeralda and Alicia; Nephews; Edward, Jesse, and Daniel, aunts and uncles, and cousins and most of all he had many cherished friends that became family. Pall Bearers; Niko Atonio, Jesse Hernandez, Jr., Daniel Munoz, Edward Angel Reyes, Ernest Villalobos, Paul Joblin, Rudy Acuna and Juan "Memo" Ruiz.
Oscar also known as Chef O or Big O spent his entire life living it to the fullest making barbecue and cooking for the family always smiling at the end of the day, happy to see everyone else happy, often saying “did you see them tearing up the food”. He owned CHEF "O"S TEX-MEX BAR-B-Q & CAFE located at 4100 B E Crosstimbers, Houston TX 77016 in the late 80's, he also owned Grama's Tex Mex Restaurant. He was self employed owning a staffing company called Kraft Staffers from 2006-2013 specializing in the construction industry. He worked many years as a Chef in various locations including the St. James Cabaret. He also worked in Construction for Marek Bros. and V.P. of Benito Drywall. Oscar was a man of honor and courage, he was fearless and always doing what came to his mind and often succeeding. Oscar never hesitated to help out anyone in need, if you asked him for his help he went above and beyond his reach to help you. Oscar was a family man always wanting to make barbecues and dinners just to get the family together. Oscar loved his daughters to no end and was the best father to them any man could be. He loved his grandchildren even more and was there for any and every event in their life. Nothing was too big or too small when it came to him being there for his grandchildren. Oscar also took on the role of Father to his stepchildren and Grandfather to Step-grandchildren, always encouraging them to do better and always wanting the best for everyone. He coached Sammy in baseball leading Sammy to the All Stars every year. Oscar also would raise money for the teams to have new equipment and uniforms. Oscar’s finer quality was his want to help raise money for any cause. Oscar often offered his Barbecuing and cooking skills to Help out YoungLife Ministries raise money every year to send kids to Christian Camp. Oscar was the best Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend anyone could ask for. He will be sorely missed every single day.
