Owen Henry Ruhmann passed away Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Owen was born September 21st, 1921 in Frelsburg, Texas, to Henry and Alma Ruhmann. Owen was the younger sibling of his deceased brother Victor Ruhmann.
He joined the Air Force in July 1942 and retired February of 1946. During his time at the Air Force he traveled to many places including Fiji and Guadalcanal. In July of 1946, Owen started his career at Sinclair Oil. Sinclair was bought out by ARCO where Owen finished his 38 year career in April of 1984.
He met his wife Lillie at a dance in Fayetteville. They corresponded over the years with letters and telegrams. Owen finally proposed and they started their life long journey on October 19th 1947. They loved going out dancing every Saturday night. Owen enjoyed working on cars, visiting his country home in Frelsburg, and driving his tractor. He also loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Owen had a great sense of humor and would always share entertaining personal stories. He was a long time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church of Houston.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillie, daughter, Cynthia Ruhmann Kaminski, granddaughters; Stephanie Loredo and husband Arnold Loredo Jr; Pamela Kaminski and fiancé Brett McKean, Valerie Maher and husband Zachary Maher, great grandchildren, Veronica, Aidan and Gabriella Loredo and Jaxen Maher
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Owens name to St Ambrose Catholic Church.
