Pamela Price Schell, our beloved Wife, Mom, and Nana, passed away on Easter Sunday, the 31st of March 2024, from heart disease. She was 73 years old. Pam was born on the 4th of November 1950, to the late Thomas Francis Price and Emma Carter Price in Stoneville, North Carolina. Her youth was spent in North Carolina, where she was affectionately cared for by her predeceased grandparents, Roy and Margaret Carter, along with her aunts, Evelyn Carter Bailey Englander and Anne Carter Glenn.
Pam graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in teaching. During the summer months, she worked and stayed with her Aunt Evelyn. Pam’s office administration summer job provided the meet-cute that introduced her to the love of her life and husband of 51 years, Michael Schell. After dating long-distance to finish their college studies, Pam and Mike married in 1972 and resided in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Pam worked for Ivey’s, a local department store, in accounts receivable, while her husband, Mike, began a career in insurance. Upon the birth of their daughter, Kimberly, Pam remained at home to care for their young family. Five years later, they welcomed their second daughter, Lauren. Mike’s career relocated the family from North Carolina, the only state where Pam had lived, to California, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, abroad to London, and then finally to Texas, which they have called home since 2002.
A devoted wife and mother, Pam consistently provided a loving, stable, and beautiful home for her family, regardless of their hometown. Pam established meaningful friendships in each place she lived, and her sweet smile and soft-spoken demeanor were a friendly icebreaker for new introductions.
Pam volunteered her time and energy for many causes, including the American Woman’s Club of London, CanCare, Inc., Children’s Aid and Family Services, Meals on Wheels America, and the Memorial Area Newcomer’s Club. Pam also served as a Deacon at Edgcumbe Presbyterian Church and West Side Presbyterian Church.
Her favorite title was Nana. She adored her four grandchildren, Taylor, Carter, Duncan, and Caroline, and was an active part of each of their lives from the day they were born. Nana mastered video phone calls in 2020 and talked to her grandchildren daily. She loved to dote on her grandchildren, spend time with her grandchildren, and most of all, hug her grandchildren.
Pam is survived by her husband and forever love, Michael Schell; daughter, Kimberly Shipley (Ted); daughter, Lauren Chapman (Charles); and grandchildren, Taylor Shipley, Carter Shipley, Duncan Chapman, and Caroline Chapman. She is also survived by her brother, Steven Carter Price.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 8th of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where The Rev. Robert Wismer, Assistant Rector and Senior Chaplain at St. Francis School, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions please be directed to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 South Mayflower Avenue, Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016 or at https://www.stbaldricks.org/memorial/382
