Patricia M. Ayer

Patricia’s paternal grandparents came to the United States from Ireland in the early 1860s. She was born to Patrick and Katherine Miles McNamara on March 15, 1918, at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas. Patricia grew up in Austin where she attended Mathews Elementary School, St. Mary’s Academy, Allan Junior High School, Austin Senior High School, and The University of Texas at Austin. When she was a senior in high school, Patricia met her beloved husband of seventy years, Jack Keating Ayer. They were married on August 18, 1942, and Jack immediately thereafter left to serve in the Army Air Corp in Europe and North Africa. Following the conclusion of World War II and a brief time in Austin, Patricia and Jack moved to Houston where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Patricia was a long-standing and active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Mothers Club, Pine Forest Country Club, the Ladies Auxiliary at the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society, LEOH, and the Linkwood Ladies Club.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband; her brother, John James; her three sisters, Jane Cecelia, Katherine Elizabeth, and Mary Virginia; and her grandson, Trevor Ayer. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Kubin and her husband, Dan Kubin; her son, Jack Keating Ayer, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Kubin, Jennifer Kubin Alexander (and her husband, Fields Alexander), and Ashli Ayer (and her husband, Zachary Ceplecha); her great grandchildren, Juliet, Luke, and Noelle Alexander; her niece, Annes Baker (and her husband, Ron Baker, and daughter, Shelagh Herzog); her nieces, Jane Casiraghi and Margaret Feldhusen; and her nephews, Pat, Jerry, Billy John, and Mike McNamara and Jack and Billy Miles Douglas.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 13, at 9a.m. at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church and Shrine, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston 77055.
