Patricia Kathleen Johnson, 79, passed away on March 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1944, in Denver, Colorado to Walter Edward Wenzinger and Flora Josephine Kimmins. She was the oldest and only girl out of four children. She grew up across the street from Michael Leonard Johnson, and they were later married at Notre Dame Catholic Church in 1964. Pat, her husband and three children lived in Denver, CO, Seattle, WA, Gaithersburg, MD, New Orleans, LA, and then Houston, TX since 1981.
Patricia lived her life as a good Roman Catholic Christian, who loved God, her husband, family, friends, neighbors, and life. Her earliest ambitions were to have a career in the medical field and have a family. Her proudest family moments were her marriage, the birth of her children and grandchildren, attending her children’s high school and college graduations, family vacations and adventures, and her 50th wedding anniversary.
Patricia attended the University of Colorado in the Arts and Science department. She followed her early ambitions in the healthcare field working as a business office manager for Tomball Regional Medical Outpatient and Cancer Centers for 10+ years. She also was an Administrator at Triple-I Consulting for 4 years. Patricia had many awards and achievements in her life including being the valedictorian of her Senior class, earning numerous employee-of-the-month awards at the Tomball Regional Medical Center, and celebrating 59 years of marriage.
Patricia had many favorite songs by the artists Queen, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Garth Brooks. Her favorite color was green, and she was an avid reader. She also liked to do jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, Sudoku, and research her family history on Ancestry.com. As a result, her family called her “the walking dictionary and encyclopedia”. She also enjoyed family and friends get togethers, gardening and yard work, walking, ocean cruises, collecting Llardro bells and figurines, visiting the zoo, and hosting St. Patrick’s Day parties on her birthday (i.e., she missed her 80th birthday by 2 days). Patricia also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel-of-Fortune, Dr. Pol, Johnnie Carson and other comedy shows. Most of all she loved spending time with her husband, family, and grandkids. She wanted to be remembered as a good wife, mother, and grandmother who believed in and loved God, and who was loving, patient, understanding, helpful, and caring. Patricia’s last 5 years were very challenging. She struggled with Alzheimer and Parkinson’s disease but had a strong desire to live and rarely complained.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Michael Johnson, of 59 years; brother, Thomas Raymond Wenzinger; children, Kevin Michael Johnson, Kelli Ann Johnson, and Matthew Michael Johnson; and grandchildren, Ryan Michael Johnson, Joshua Michael Johnson, Zachary Michael Johnson, Isabella Jun Johnson, and Carter Franklin Johnson.
Patricia is predeceased by her grandparents, William Caryle Kimmins, Josephine I. Thompson, Leo Edward Wenzinger, and Mary Geraldine Jeremiah; parents, Walter Edward Wenzinger and Flora Josephine Kimmins; and siblings, Gary Michael Wenzinger and William Leo Wenzinger.
