Patsy Carol Johnson

As a small child, Patsy contracted polio, and the family moved to North Dallas to seek medical treatment. The youngest of 5 siblings, she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, worked as a secretary, and led an active, fun-filled life, living mainly in North Dallas and Austin.

She married Audie Johnson Jr. of Dallas, Texas, in 1971, and it was clear from the start that Cupcake and Bear – their nicknames for one another – were truly each other’s worlds. They remained happily married until his passing in 2017. Patsy’s work led her down several entrepreneurial paths, but she spent most of her career as a certified personnel consultant with Snelling and Snelling.

Patsy was always the life of any party. She loved to entertain others, to the point that each home they purchased was chosen based on how well it could accommodate entertaining. She had a spirit of hospitality, of giving, and a true heart for others. Although to be honest, she was not above cheating at Scrabble.

Patsy’s faith in Jesus Christ was strong and deeply rooted, and she remained consistently involved in church outreach ministries until health constraints prevented her from serving. Even so, she remained a strong witness to His redeeming love, and she conducted her own outreach ministries in the various retirement homes where she resided.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Audie Johnson Jr., infant daughter Carolee Johnson, stepdaughter Robin Anglin, brother Lanny Rogers, and sister Joan Williams. She is survived by her son, Audie Johnson III and wife Sara, grandchildren Rylee and Luke Johnson, granddaughters Meghan Ingram and Chelsey Dawes, sister Phyllis Unrein, brother Malcom Rogers, and countless nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Her fighting spirit and loving nature will be missed, as will her sharp wit and sarcasm.

If you knew Patsy, you would know that she would always tell people about her newest plan to walk again. The family can say with full confidence that she is now walking on the streets of gold with her Jesus, her beloved husband, her sweet Carolee, and all of those departed beloveds who welcomed her home with rejoicing.
