Patsy was born on September 24, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Bayliss Budd and Florence Nightingale Gantenbein. She was lovingly raised by her mother and devoted stepfather, Joe C. Bain. Patsy graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston in 1947 and married the love of her life, Charlie Kennerly Jr., on January 24, 1948, in Houston. Together they shared a loving marriage and built a family that became the center of her life.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and homemaker, Patsy dedicated her life to raising six children while serving as a constant source of love, strength, and encouragement for her family. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and truly never met a stranger. Her kindness, generous heart, and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Patsy found great joy in arts and crafts throughout her life, especially beading and crocheting. In her later years, she developed a passion for travel, creating countless treasured memories with family and friends. She also loved gathering around the domino table, where afternoons were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and unforgettable moments.
At the age of 74, Patsy embraced a new chapter by leaving the city and settling in Normangee, Texas. She quickly became an active member of the community and a familiar face at the Geelan Community House, where she formed lasting friendships and continued doing what she loved most spending time with people. Her welcoming spirit and genuine interest in others made her a beloved member of the community.
Patsy was preceded in death by her father, Bayliss Budd; her mother, Florence Nightingale Gantenbein; her stepfather, Joe C. Bain; her sister, Jo Ann Bain Jackson; her beloved husband, Charlie Kennerly Jr.; her daughter, Gaye Nelle Kennerly; and her daughter-in-law, Deidre Kennerly.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Charlie Kennerly III; Donnell Kennerly and his wife, Lynn; Sidney Symmons and Bill Harris; Raymond Kennerly; and William Kennerly and his wife, Tina. She is also survived by more than 40 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love.
Patsy's greatest legacy was the love she shared so freely with others. Her unwavering devotion to her family, compassionate heart, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her wife, mother, grandmother, family, and friend.
