She was the first of her family to attend college, earning her Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma, making her a rarity amongst women in the early 1970's. It was at OU that she met her husband of 50 years, Sarosh Collector.
During college she gained an internship at NASA's Johnson Space Center. She would accept the job offer after her internship and spend her entire professional career as a civil servant at JSC for the next almost 40 years. At JSC she started her career in Mission Control, and went on to work on Shuttle Missions, and the International Space Station. Although she was often quiet about the things she did at work, and the various people she worked with, when prompted she would share stories of ground breaking science done with colorful characters. Her wit and observation often dry, and a quiet tone were the only steady constant in the stories she told, each story remarkable in that they all came from the same person.
Outside of NASA, Pearline was active in the local Zoroastrian community. Helping her husband, Sarosh, grow the Houston community into what it is today, acting as the great woman behind the man. She also actively took part in the community's library and taught Sunday School classes. Pearline was also known for her love of British television, faithfully watching Masterpiece theater during new episodes and reruns; as well as her love of dry British comedies such as Keeping Up Appearances. Despite her love of mystery shows, she often found herself bored because she knew who the culprit was by the end of the first act.
Influenced by her mother Lucy, Pearline crafted, sewed, quilted and grew plants. She made fine quilts and was able to mend the quilts made by her mother, making lasting mementos of her comforting presence long after they would normally fall into disrepair. Unfortunately, she was not as adept with plants as she was with sewing. If her mother had a green thumb, she had a brownish one.
Pearline loved new experiences, to travel and to learn as much of the location she visited as possible. Cramming trips with as many museums and dreaded visitor's stations as possible.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sarosh Collector, her parents Pearl and Lucy Wines, and her older brother Paul. She is survived by her children Rayomond, Dina, and Kayaanoosh; as well as her grandchildren Sarosh, AshaLynnea, Natalia, Armaiti, Micah, and Ameretat.
She will be remembered for her intelligence, love, humor, humility, kindness and forcing us to bite our tongues.
Her funeral service will be on Tuesday November 18th, 2025 at 10am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077
