Peggy Sheridan Edwards, 79, passed away on February 25, 2026. Peggy was a beloved, compassionate, devoted, generous, gentle, hard-working, honest, kind-hearted, patient, and thoughtful woman whose life was defined by steadfast love for family, faithful friendship, and quiet strength.
Born on October 13, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, Peggy was raised in Arlington, Texas alongside her younger brothers, Phil and Bryan. She attended Arlington High School, where she met her husband, Charles, and graduated in 1964. Peggy went on to attend UT with Charles, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. Later, she attended North Texas University and graduated in 1978 with a Masters in Library Science.
Peggy began her professional life as an Executive Search Assistant with Heidrick & Struggles. She then took time away from her career to be a stay-at-home mother, devoted to raising her three children. When she returned to the workforce, she became the Head Librarian at Houston Community College/Houston City College. She retired the day Hurricane Harvey hit.
Peggy married Charles Edwards, her highschool sweetheart, on August 10, 1968, after graduating college. Together they had three children—Christopher Lynn Edwards, Kevin Andrew Edwards, and Megan Elizabeth Edwards—and raised them in Houston, Texas. Peggy took an active role in her children’s lives, supporting them through clubs, various sports, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. The family also took yearly trips to visit family members and to their favorite camping spot, Pedernales Falls State Park, with family friends.
Peggy was an expert quilter, an avid reader of murder mystery and spy novels, and a historical reenactor. She also loved traveling the world with her husband, Charles, and visited places such as England, Ireland, Italy, and Scotland.
In her community, Peggy was an active member in Eastern Stars, AAUW, and Girl Scouts of the USA, and she was a donor to Wings of Rescue charity. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and her kindness and friendship touched the hearts of many.
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
