OBITUARY
Phillip Joseph Montalbano
February 24, 1941 – January 6, 2021
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law, Phillip Joseph Montalbano, was received by the angels into eternal peace on Wednesday, the 6th of January 2021 at the age of 79. He was born on the 24th of February 1941 in Houston.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Joe P. and Loraine Montalbano. He will be forever loved and missed by his devoted wife of 59 years, Joanna L. Montalbano; son Joe Phillip Montalbano and wife Kimberly; son Roy F. Montalbano and wife Donna; and daughter Loraine Judge and husband, Craig; grandchildren Nicholas Montalbano, Morgan Montalbano, Morgan Bily, Donalyn Bily, Isabella Montalbano, Julianna Judge, and Nathan Judge; brother Ray P. Montalbano and wife Sandra; and brother-in-law, Frank R. Mandola.
Phillip graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1959 and attended the University of Houston. He worked at Montalbano Lumber Company for over 20 years before commencing a successful and extended career in real estate investment.
He was a long-time member of the 20 Club, Sacred Heart Society, Houston Italian Golf Association, and Goodfellas. He enjoyed playing cards and golfing routinely with lifelong dear friends and making annual golf trips with the “Tapatio Bunch.” He had a passion for watching sports, and playing golf, even recording a hole-in-one in 2015. He and Joanna were members of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church since 1961.
Known affectionately to friends and extended family as “Bubba,” Phillip enjoyed a fulfilling life, always with his family at the center of his universe. He instilled qualities of love, respect, and care in his children. He taught them respect for others, integrity, being humble while getting his point across, wisdom, and placing others needs before his own. In his later years, “Paw Paw” took great joy in attending the events of his grandchildren and gathering his family to spend time at the bay or in Galveston. He looked forward to dinners with his close circle of friends.
The rite of committal and interment will commence at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 23rd of January 2021, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrance, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to St. Christopher Catholic Church, 8150 Park Place Blvd., Houston TX 77017.

So sad to hear of Bubba's passing and we have lost one of the kindest and most giving souls in our community. The generosity of him and Joanna will never be forgotten with the care they lent to my mother and father, Vita and Sam. Words of condolences to Phillip's family cannot convey how much respect he earned from all of us for a life well spent sharing quality time with all of us. Know that memories of him will bring smiles for all who were fortunate enough to encounter him.
