

Phuoth Klam, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 1, 1945, in Siem Reap, Cambodia, and raised in Oddar Meanchey, Cambodia, to the late Dy Klam and Sun Sath, Phuoth lived a life defined by resilience, sacrifice, courage, and unconditional love.
In 1976, during one of the darkest periods in Cambodia’s history, Phuoth Klam and her side of the family escaped the horrors of the Killing Fields in search of freedom and hope. With unwavering determination and faith, they journeyed to the United States and eventually made their home in Orange, Texas, where they raised their families and built a new life together.
Phuoth overcame countless hardships and obstacles throughout her life, always placing the needs of her family above her own. Through every challenge, she remained a pillar of strength, perseverance, and grace. She exemplified what true courage, grit, and determination looked like, inspiring all who knew her through both her actions and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Family was everything to Phuoth. She loved fiercely and wholeheartedly, creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and togetherness. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her loved ones and gathering everyone around the table. Her meals were more than food they were expressions of love, tradition, and unity that brought generations together and created cherished memories that will live on forever.
Phuoth is survived by her daughter, Kamsath Dy, and grandchildren, Alexis Heng, Jeramee Heng, and Layla Bourgeois; daughter, Kosal Tredway and her husband, Chris, and grandchildren, Jase Williamson, Bryce Williamson, and Drake Tredway; son, Souleng Dy; brother, Kemdy Klam and his wife, Linda, and their children, Danny Klam, Christie Klam, and Steven Klam; brother, Lohn Dy and his wife, Sokha Pich Dy, and their children, Paullyca Dy, Lynna Dy, and Julie Dy; sister-in-law, Mary Klam and her children, Thai Klam, Rock Klam, and Peacely Klam; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Phuoth was preceded in death by her late husband, Sameoun Keo; her father, Dy Klam; her mother, Sun Sath; and her brothers, Ratha Klam and John Klam.
Phuoth’s legacy is one of sacrifice, strength, compassion, and enduring love. Her life stands as a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her, but her spirit and the values she instilled will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
