May 2, 1935 – November 19, 2025
Phyllis Foote Rosenblad, known for her unwavering kindness, bright optimism, and unmistakable smile, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Her family misses her deeply but is profoundly grateful for the long, joy-filled life she lived.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Phyllis embraced her deep Texas roots and was guided by the strong bonds and leadership of her family throughout her sweet and gentle life. She was the daughter of Henry and Grace Foote and the loving twin sister of her lifelong sidekick, Phillip.
A Life Full of Love
While attending the University of Texas, Phyllis met Jimmie Rosenblad, the love of her life. Together they built a warm, welcoming home in Houston and raised two children, Jamie and Kyle. Phyllis possessed a rare gift for making people feel seen,
appreciated, and instantly at ease. Energy, Joy, and Heart
A proud Texas Longhorn, Phyllis began her career teaching P.E. at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin in 1958. After moving to Houston, she continued sharing her love of movement at Ragsdale Swimming and Gymnastics School and later at the Memorial Athletic Club. Her students adored her enthusiasm and the pure joy she brought to every class.
Loving the Simple Things
Phyllis found peace walking along the Texas coast, diligently searching for shells and shark teeth. She flourished in her garden, inspiring many with the beautiful spaces she cultivated. She taught us not by words but by the grace and strength she showed in her example. After losing Jimmie in 2012, she carried on with the
same uplifting spirit and resilience that defined her life.
Forever Loved
She is survived by her daughter, Jamie (and her husband, Todd), and her son, Kyle (and his wife, Isabel); her beloved granddaughter, Ciana; her brother, Phillip, and his wife, Mary; and many cherished family members and friends who were touched by her warmth.
