

Pierce was born April 14, 1928 in Houston, Texas. He attended Jeff Davis High School where he was a standout athlete in multiple sports, setting city of Houston scoring records in basketball. He played for the semi-pro basketball team, the Ada Oilers, owned by Bud Adams. Pierce joined the United States Navy in 1948 where he served his country on the destroyer, U.S.S. Haynsworth. He was a member of the Houston Police Academy Class #5, and proudly served as a police officer for the Houston Police Department for 37 years, retiring as sergeant.
He met the love of his life, Adele Marie, while in high school. They were married for 59 wonderful years until her passing in 2006. Together they enjoyed traveling the world, playing Bridge and spending precious moments with family and friends.
Pierce was an avid golfer and spent many a day on the golf course with his golf buddies. He also loved reading detective mysteries and challenging himself with the daily crossword puzzles.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church West and enjoyed fellowship with the Journey Bible Study.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adele Marie, his parents Charles and Sophia Leake, his brother, Charles Leake, Jr. and sister-in-law, Gwen Leake.
He is survived by his son Pierce Leake, Jr. and wife Debby; daughters Linda Curtis and husband Tony, Susan Black and husband Sonny, Sandra Malone, and Nancy Pettit and husband Jeff; and brother Sidney Leake and wife Margaret. Pierce is also survived by his grandchildren Dina Sims and husband Britt, Brian Leake and wife Amy, Kara Rodriguez and husband Michael, Keli Herten-Greaven and husband Terence, Kristina Brown and husband Patrick, Lindsay Rushing and husband Ben, Allyson Bonner and husband Michael, Courtney Curtis, Kacie Black, Kyle Pettit and wife Abigail, Megan Malone; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His family is truly his greatest legacy!
The family will receive friends at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. and graveside burial will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Pierce’s memory may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
